A custom team apparel company lives and wins on repeat business and word of mouth from team managers, coaches, and administrators who are ordering for their programs year after year. The email marketing program for Versus Canada was built to keep the brand and its expanding product range front of mind with exactly that audience, across the sports communities, schools, and club programs that represent the core of the Versus customer base. The backpack campaign addressed a specific commercial opportunity: custom backpacks as a natural extension of the team kit, offering the same colour matching, logo placement, and personalization that teams already expected from their jerseys, extended to a product that players use every day on and off the field. The email needed to communicate that the product was available, explain the customization offer, and drive the prospect to request a quote in a single, clean communication that cut through a sports administrator's busy inbox.

Methodology

Blair and Co. designed the Versus Canada backpack email around a simple visual and commercial logic: show the product, state the benefit, and make the next step obvious. The Versus Canada brand identity in black, yellow, and white gave the email strong visual contrast and immediate brand recognition in an inbox alongside generic sports organization communications. The hero image of the custom backpack in brand colours gave the product immediate credibility and showed the customization outcome rather than describing it. The headline Backpacks Now Available was written to communicate availability as news rather than advertisement, appropriate for an audience that treats supplier communications as operational information when the product is relevant to their program. The subheadline, Enhance your team’s look off the field with custom backpacks. Choose your colors and logo placement to show up in style, extended the product positioning with the key customer benefit before the call to action. The Get Your Quote Today button was designed as a high-contrast yellow on dark, consistent with the Versus Canada brand and built to perform on both desktop and mobile where sports administrators are frequently reading email.

Process

Blair and Co. developed the backpack campaign email within the Versus Canada email template system, building the design to work consistently across desktop and mobile clients given the diversity of devices used by team managers and administrators in a sports context. The subject line Backpacks Now Available was written for inbox preview performance, using direct product language that would be immediately relevant to a recipient managing team equipment needs rather than requiring a creative hook to earn the open. The email was built for deployment to the Versus Canada contact list and designed to drive traffic directly to the quote request process rather than an intermediate content page, minimising the steps between email open and commercial inquiry.

Outcome

The Versus Canada backpack campaign email delivered a product launch communication to the brand’s sports team and club program audience, giving the Versus Canada sales team a direct inquiry channel for the new product category. The clean design, clear product photography, and direct call to action gave the email the conversion-focused structure appropriate for a product with a straightforward value proposition and a buyer who makes decisions based on product relevance, pricing, and turnaround time rather than brand discovery. The email marketing program supports Versus Canada’s ongoing relationship with team administrators across Canadian hockey, baseball, soccer, football, and basketball programs by keeping the brand and its product range consistently visible through new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and ordering reminders throughout the sports calendar.
